Client: All Hallows’ School Past Pupils’ Association
Categories: Document Design, Interactive Design
Background:
The Hallowian is the past pupils’ digital magazine of All Hallows’ School. Released twice per year, it contains updates on the school community, reunion information and heartwarming stories of past pupils.
The Problem:
AHS has past pupils ranging from 18 to an incredible 100 years of age, and The Hallowian is an important publication for this community. Previously, this document was a printed 8-pager with very little engagement, particularly from younger members of the community. With the desire to connect more with the younger audience but remain relevant for even our eldest readers, The Hallowian’s redesign needed to be elegant and modern, and reflect the school brand.
The Solution
I chose to embark on a refreshed approach, and in collaboration with the School’s dedicated past pupils team, created a modern, interative digital publication full of beautiful anecdotes, School history, and community spirit. The school’s signature magnolia flower features throughout, complimenting the classic design.
With the design complete, I chose to host the document on digital publication server PaperTurn to ensure it supported analytics, embedded videos and was mobile-friendly.
Since making the big digital change to The Hallowian in 2020, each issue has garnered thousands of views, increased engagement from our younger readers, and a new way forward for this historic association.
