Client: Cafe 547
Categories: Branding
Background:
Brisbane’s Cafe 547 provides full cafe service, barista-made beverages and homemade baked goods. My brief for the branding of this new venture was to evoke the natural elements surrounding the cafe, and create a brand that youths and adults alike would connect with.
The Problem:
Launching during the COVID-19 pandemic, Cafe 547 faced challenges of creating a new brand during such a hectic time. I needed to create a logo that reflected the natural space the cafe was in, and reflect the goal of marketing themselves as a cafe for unwinding, and taking time for self-care. Being on school grounds, the cafe would have a wide target audience of children and adults alike, and the logo had to appeal to this broad market.
The Solution
Reminiscent of the prominant fig tree adjacent to the cafe, this logo combines a classic circular shape with a fig tree motif. This delicate tree design is also an indication that Cafe 547 is a place to relax and unwind, and take a moment away from the pace of the day.
The look and feel of the cafe was natural-meets-modern, so I chose to keep the logo in a monochrome colourway that would fit nicely on the cafe’s eco-friendly recycled packaging.
The ‘EST. 2020’ was added into the logo to celebrate the achievement of launching such a venture even with all of the turmoil of COVID-19.
Since its launch in 2020, the Cafe is still thriving, with the logo well-known amongst its patrons.
