Client: AMSSA (Australasian Mercy Secondary Schools Association)
Categories: Document Design, Branding
Background:
The AMSSA (Australasian Mercy Secondary Schools Association) Conference is an internationally recognised conference to further education, through sharing expertise and providing national and international forums for educators. This year, the conference was held in Brisbane.
The Problem:
In a short timeframe, the Conference needed not only a logo and branding, but all sorts of collateral from event brochures to dinner seating charts. The look and feel needed to communicate something unique – that after the conference was postponed due to COVID-19, it was not only back, but back with a new message of hope and resilience.
The Solution:
With “Mercy in Liminal Times” as the chosen theme for the conference, I wanted to give the event a look and feel that would inspire, reflecting the hope that was felt in reorganising the conference for a post-COVID world.
I depicted the theme sitting between two rising suns, a nod to the idea of being ‘between’ times. Yellow tones matched the suns, bringing about the warmth behind the theme. And geometric shapes tied in with the logo to represented liminality, and crossing a divide into a new era.
The designs were extremely effective, giving a friendly edge to the conference, and inspiring delegates from over 70 schools and organisations to join in for what was a hugely successful event.
